On the 19 December 2025 I took my brand new Toyota Prado to APP for a ceramic coat.

On arrival at APP the shop was closed, despite being told to arrive at 08:30, APP employees didn’t arrive until 08:40.

The young man who dealt with me had no clue what I was booked in for, I would’ve thought that as soon as I said my name or rego the employee would go “ah you’re here for a ceramic coat”. I think APP had two cars in that day so they were definitely not rushed off their feet.

At 10:30 I phoned APP to ask if they remove rego plates whilst ceramic coating. Julian said yes, to which I replied can you leave them off as I have new brackets that I want to fit.

Anyway at 15:21 I received a phone call from Julian to say my car was ready for collection, a smooth six hours later despite being booked in for the 2 day package.

On arrival at APP I could see my car outside with no rego plates on but it did have the rego mounting brackets on. Straight away alarm bells were ringing for me. I thought APP would have had my car under the lights to show it off to me. I asked Julian do you not remove the rego brackets when ceramic coating? He replied no, so I said why do you remove the rego plates then? I got a stuttered reply.

On inspection of the vehicle I could see large amounts of polish dust on the rear door and down the left hand side, I pointed this out and an employee came over and removed the dust. As far as I’m tracking the car gets a paint correction followed by a ceramic coating. There shouldn’t have been any polish dust.

I then pointed out to Julian a fresh dent on the petrol cap that wasn’t there when I bought it in. Julian grabbed a piece of paper that had a diagram of a car on it but no time stamp or vehicle KMs on it, it did however have the dent and a few other so called paint defects and scratches marked on it. He said the dent and scratches were already there, I was not present for this nor was there any formal handover takeover of my vehicle. So these damages could be added at any time I.e right up to the point of pick up. My car was brand new.

My car now has a handful of scratches, a dent and clumps of ceramic coatings where it’s not been applied correctly all of which Julian said are Toyota defects.

Dent - I said to Julian this is likely from the ladders, somehow it may have got knocked. Julian said we don’t use ladders. So I said how do you do the roofs? He told me we use your side steps. So now I have an image of an employee stood on my side steps rubbing their belt off my paintwork, one hand on the roof rails and one hand on the buffer buffing my roof. This might explain the scratches on my drivers side window.

Marks on bonnet - Julian said these are Toyota paint defects. I said these look like where the ceramic coatings haven’t been applied correctly and then the heat lamps have hardened the ceramic. Julian said we don’t use heat lamps.

Deep scratches on the roof - these are right behind the roof rails. How do you spot these without ladders? These have been put there with the buffing machines.

Brush marks - on the back right (drivers side) it literally looks like someone got a paint brush and painted (in a slightly different colour white).

I was so angry at this point but to top it off Julian offered to knock $100 off and for me to use my Schmick to have it all fixed.

We ended up exchanging 3 emails where Julian agreed to give me a full refund.

We also talked on the phone for 50 minutes post emails and talked around CCTV. I asked to view the CCTV of the work carried out on my car, the manger refused my request. He then said he’d take snap shots but all of a sudden the CCTV broke.

Even though I have had a full refund I’m still worst off because now I have a car with defects, when I took it to APP it was in mint condition.

I genuinely believe that APP is a disingenuous company that doesn’t follow the correct steps when it comes to ceramic coating a car. Which in simple terms for me is fraud as you’re not getting what you’ve paid for.

Thankyou for looking after my brand new car! Adelaide Paint Protection have done a wonderful job with the ceramic paint protection and tint. I upgraded to ceramic tint for an extra $100 and it has really made a huge difference to the heat inside the cabin. I also sled (on the day) for a clear ceramic film to be applied to the inside of my windscreen and they were able to do this with no drama. The time they took to explain after care was wonderful also.

Julian and the Team ceramic coated my Everest just before Christmas and they did an exceptional job again. They did an awesome job on my caravan back in February 2025 too.
We have just returned from a dusty road trip along with lots of bird and other wild animal deposits all over the van and car. A quick high pressure clean and they are both looking like new again.

The cost of Paint Protection for a 4WD ranges from $1295, whilst our Pro Ceramic Coatings have several Multi-Layer options available.

Note that the prices shown are the all in costs that includes prep work and installation labour. (As opposed to some that spring the prep & polishing price on you when you drop off the car)!!

Having been installing Ceramic Coatings for 11+ years now, we are factory trained to install every major brand of Professional quality Ceramic Coatings!

Just like your new car or new phone, Ceramic Coatings evolve each year and better formulas are produced.

We install over 15 Ceramic Coatings each week and are constantly asked to trial new products. Our R&D location is on acreage at McLaren Vale is where we test every new Ceramic Coating for several parameters before finally making them available for OUR customers. We have 14 Black bonnets that have coatings installed, followed by monthly checks and measures through all weathers!

The self-healing technology describes the ability to return to its original form after washing marks, swirl marks, or other light scratches are introduced into the surface of the Coating.

In our testing of four Self Healing Ceramic Coatings, NONE of the coatings were able to ‘self heal’ as stated. Consequently you won’t find any of these products offered at our sites.

In short in our opinion, Self Healing Ceramic Coatings are a myth.

In order for us to spend a sufficient amount of time preparing your vehicle’s paint and applying the coating(s), you will need to leave your vehicle with us for at least one day for protector coatings, and multiple days for Pro Ceramic Coatings.

When your new car is collected from us we go through the recommended products to ensure a lifetime of Protection. You simply can’t go wrong!!

As a guide a properly maintained Pro Grade Coating (notice I said PRO GRADE) will provide excellent service for at least 9 Years. GUARANTEED.

Maintenance is Super Simple, there are several products that just make it fun & easy to maintain your newly coated car.

We are sent pictures weekly of happy customers snow foaming their cars, or applying Ceramic Spray to ensure the maximum durability of their coatings.

Maintenance is simple, but important!

A Professionally applied Ceramic Coating installation is invisible, & will actually amplify the colour of your cars new Paint!

PRO Grade Ceramic Coatings require the use of Sandpaper or Heavy Cutting Compound to remove them once cured! Not sure why you would want to remove a Coating though?
